The Milk of Dreams, the project that formed the backbone of the last edition of the Venice Biennale, curated by Cecilia Alemani, gave the surrealism of Leonora Carrington, a versatile, eclectic and ahead of her time artist, a central role to show how we could rethink the canon of art in our 21st century on the basis of artists like her. The Mapfre Foundation now offers us an exhibition of Carrington's artistic work in the Sala Recoletos as a revelation.
Leonora Carrington. Revelation, curated by Tere Arcq, Carlos Martín and Stefan van Raay, is the first anthological exhibition dedicated to this artist to be held in Spain. The exhibition covers the artist's entire career: her work as a painter, sculptor, writer and tapestry maker.
