Setenta grandes maestros de la Colección Pérez Simón

CentroCentro, a space belonging to Madrid City Council's Department of Culture, Tourism and Sport, located in the Palacio de Cibeles, is hosting the exhibition Setenta grandes maestros de la Colección Pérez Simón (Seventy Great Masters from the Pérez Simón Collection), which brings together some of the most valuable pieces from this remarkable collection, most of them never before seen in Madrid, and which represents a true journey through the History of Art.
The Pérez Simón Collection is made up of more than 4,000 works of painting, sculpture, drawing and manuscripts, as well as numerous pieces of decorative arts, and is today considered to be one of the most important private collections in the world. It is completed by a library of more than 50,000 volumes, with a documentary collection that supports the Collection itself.
The selection of works has been made by the curators Graciela Téllez Trevilla, Susana Martínez-Garrido and Roberto Fernández Castro, who have articulated it in such a way as to offer a route divided into three thematic sections: Old masters and early moderns. The 19th century. From the avant-garde to contemporary art.
Among the masters included in the exhibition are: Lucas Cranach el Viejo, Bronzino, Rubens, el Greco, Murillo, Anton Van Dyck, Canaletto, Tiepolo, Goya, Turner, Van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Pissarro, Gauguin, Sisley, Monet, Renoir, Ignacio de Zuloaga, Eduard Munch, Frida Kahlo, Tamara de Lempicka, Fernand Léger, Rothko, René Magritte, Alex Katz, Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí.
