Taiwanese artists at Madrid Art Week 2025

March 5th - 9th, 2025

Current artistic practice from Taiwan will be on view in Madrid during its art week thanks to the programme for the internationalisation of contemporary Taiwanese art promoted by the Taiwanese Ministry of Culture and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Spain.

Thus, two of the international fairs, Hybrid and Art Madrid, will offer a sample of both the talent and uniqueness of some of today's most distinguished Taiwanese artists. TENG Pu-Chun, Suling WANG, CHOU Ching-Hui, Ching Chwang HO and Taboeh a 'Oebay Tataysi'. Different disciplines: painting, photography, calligraphy, poetry and dance, will show the continous dialogue between oriental tradition and contemporaneity.

The individual visual poetry project by the artist Ching Chwang HO in the language of contemporary Taiwanese calligraphy will be shown in room 211 during the 9th edition of HYBRID Art Fair, at the Hotel Petit Palace Santa Bárbara (Plaza de Santa Bárbara). Within the fair's performance programme, in particular, on Saturday, March 8, between 18:00 and 19:00h, a contemporary dance performance will be given by Taiwanese artists Ching Chwang HO and Taboeh a 'Oebay Tataysi'.

Under the title Ink of East and West, calligrapher and poet Ching Chwang HO and dancer Taboeh a 'Oebay Tataysi' will link calligraphy, poetry and contemporary dance in an improvised way, demonstrating the charm of the collaboration between the two artists. With his dance, the former will explore the sanguine memory of the cultural spirit through strong bodily characteristics. Through her calligraphy, the poet will express her feelings about the cultural exchange between East and West, promoting Taiwanese culture on the international stage.

Likewise, Chini Gallery from Taipei, one of the most important Taiwanese galleries today, will offer visitors to the ART MADRID fair a journey through the different creative universes of three of the most distinguished Taiwanese artists. For this purpose, from 5 to 9 March, it will be exhibiting Ethereal Flow at stand A11. This project brings together the work of the creators TENG Pu-Chun, Suling WANG and CHOU Ching-Hui. Each of them develops their research and artistic practice based on deep reflections that lead them to interpret nature, humanity and culture.

The gallery will bring to Madrid a very ambitious proposal, as its artists will reveal a series of subtle and harmonious connections within their work of exploring the spirit through contemporary creation. Thus, Chini Gallery will display a series of works that will allow us to contemplate and understand three of Taiwan's most attractive artistic languages, as well as to share a dialogue on the interaction between human beings and their environment, between culture and emotions.
