VICENTE ROJO & GUSTAVO PÉREZ. Madrid Design Festival
Memoria opens the year 2023 by presenting the past January 19th an unprecedented dialogue between the artworks of Vicente Rojo (Barcelona, 1932 - Mexico City, 2021) and Gustavo Pérez (Mexico, 1950) with a project that marks the debut of the ceramicist in the Madrid cultural scene after his last participation in Geometries Sud, a collective project organized by the Cartier Foundation in 2019.
Both artists, who had a close friendship, offer us a shared imaginary where geometry and matter dialogue in search of harmony and sensitivity through their Mesoamerican influences.
This exhibition is part of the FestivalOFF of the Madrid Ddesign Festival and can be visited until Tuesday, February 21st, when the gallery will held a closing event with the presence of Gustavo Pérez.
MEMORIA AT ZONA MACO
In its first participation in Zona Maco, Memoria presents artworks unknown in Mexico by Yolanda Andrade (Mexico, 1950), Gustavo Pérez (Mexico, 1950), Vicente Rojo (Spain, 1932 - Mexico 2021), Marta Palau (Spain, 1934 - Mexico 2021) and Abraham Cruzvillegas (Mexico, 1968) in a proposal that materializes the project's interest in defending the diversity, the semantic and the symbolic richness of the visual languages inherent in Latin American art of the last four decades.
Additionally, Lin Calle (China, 1994), the only emerging artist represented by the gallery, will be included for the first time in an international art fair.
The art fair will take place in Mexico City (Mexico) from February 8th to 12th and Memoria will be located at booth B119.

SOLO SHOW BY ANTONIO ROMERO AT MEMORIA
Along with Y.ES Contemporary, promoted by the Salvadoran philanthropist Mario Cader-Frech, Memoria presents next Thursday, February 23rd, the first solo show of the artist Antonio Romero in Spain.
Romero, currently Fellows of the first edition of the program directed by Omar López-Chahoud, became part of the permanent collection of the Museo Nacional de Arte Contemporáneo Reina Sofía in 2021.
The strategies of concealment of identity that Antonio Romero's depicts in his artworks address and synthesize the actual citizen tension in El Salvador, bringing to Madrid during its great art week a political exhibition in which to review the pictorial work of the Salvadoran artist from the last years.
MEMORIA is a space dedicated to Contemporary Art in the heart of Madrid (Spain). Its mission is the construction of compensatory survey-curated exhibitions through the displacement of the aesthetics of the periphery foundamented by the artists represented by the project. Also, through research and curatorial projects involving a broader spectrum of artists, geographies, and periods. The gallery opened its doors in September 2020 and was founded by the curator, artist and collector Alejandro de Villota.
